Carne Asada Marinade

Several labelled spices in mason jars and two limes

This is my go-to marinade if I am making steak tacos. It works great with a flank or a skirt steak. It would work great with other proteins too! This recipe is based on a few recipes that I have come across and tinkered with over the years.

Carne Asada Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp sweet paprika

  • 1 tsp ancho chili powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp light brown sugar

  • 1 tsp chipotle chili powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp lime juice (I use a blend of orange and lime juice!)

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil

  • 1 flank or skirt steak

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the marinade. Add the steak and cover with the marinade. If the steak is cold from the fridge, you can leave it on the counter for about 2 hours and barbecue or grill immediately. Or you can pop it in the fridge and marinate for 2-4 hours.
